The conflicts managers actually face

Most workplace conflict training focuses on negotiation theory and personality styles. Useful in a classroom. Less useful when two of your most experienced people have stopped speaking, the atmosphere in the room has gone cold, and you’ve been quietly hoping it would sort itself out.

The Right Call: Conflict at Work puts managers inside five situations and shows what happens when conflict is left to drift, addressed badly, or addressed well. There is no “correct” answer screen — each option plays out so managers see the difference clearly.

Scenarios are drawn from real cases, anonymised, grounded in current UK employment practice, ACAS guidance on workplace conflict, and the line between informal resolution and formal grievance. One licence covers your whole organisation. SCORM 1.2 deploys to any LMS, or runs standalone in any browser.

Five scenarios
  • The Festering Feud
Two senior team members have fallen out — and the cost of hoping it sorts itself out.
  • The Bystander Moment
A heated exchange erupts in a meeting — and what intervening (or not) signals to everyone watching.
  • The Grievance Threat
When informal resolution fails and the word “grievance” enters the conversation — what process actually requires.
  • The Team Divide
Conflict that has split the team into camps — and the difference between treating symptoms and treating cause.
  • The After-Work Incident
A comment made at a work social — and whether out-of-hours conduct is your problem to address.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the training take to complete?
Around 10 minutes per learner. Five scenarios with three choices each, plus a short knowledge primer at the start and a key-takeaways screen at the end. Learners can pause and resume; the SCORM package saves state.
Can I deploy this on our LMS?
Yes. The package is supplied as SCORM 1.2, which works in any LMS — TalentLMS, Moodle, Cornerstone, Workday Learning, Bridge and others. You can also host it on your intranet as a standalone HTML file if you don’t use an LMS.
Is this a replacement for mediation training?
No, it complements it. Mediation training teaches the skills to facilitate a structured resolution conversation. This module focuses on the earlier decisions — whether to intervene, when to escalate, how to spot what informal resolution can and can’t reach, and when a situation needs formal process or external mediation.
Can I customise this for our organisation?
Not out of the box. It’s deliberately industry-neutral so it works across sectors. If you need bespoke versions with your branding, policies or sector-specific situations, get in touch — we offer this as a paid service.
Does the module cover grievance procedure in detail?
No — it covers the manager’s decision points around when informal handling stops being appropriate and the conversation needs to become a formal one. Detailed grievance procedure training is policy-specific and varies by organisation; this module gets managers to the point where they know it’s time to bring HR in.
What’s the licensing model?
One-time purchase of £149. Unlimited internal users. No annual renewals, no per-seat fees. The licence covers use within your organisation in perpetuity. If you’re a training provider planning to resell or use it with clients, contact us about a commercial licence.
